Bio:
Sir John is a makeup and color artist inspired by the essence of his client's natural beauty. A consummate visionary, Sir John uses the power of cosmetics to transform and exalt women to their highest impact. While working with Pat Mcgrath and Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup teams during Fashion Week in New York, Milan and Paris, he quickly built his reputation for creative use of color. He has had the privilege to work with some of the most sought-after fashion and beauty industry professionals from Mario Testino to Mert and Marcus to Naomi Campbell. In fact, it was at Tom Ford’s first Womenswear show in 2010 where he was introduced to Beyoncé and granted the opportunity to work with her. Shortly after, Sir John began working with Queen Bey on everything from album art to music videos, concert tours, Super Bowls and a history-making September 2018 Vogue cover and Coachella performance.
In his youth, Sir John fell in love with the vibrant aesthetic of The Lion King. As an adult, he developed a deep appreciation for South Africa where he often finds himself at work and play. Because his long-time client and friend, Beyoncé, is the voice of Nala in the upcoming CGI remake, Disney considered it a natural fit for Sir John to develop a capsule collection of cosmetics inspired by the film. Both The Lion King Collection by Sir John x Luminess and the film debuted the summer of 2019.
Building on his eye for color and commitment to the natural beauty and ever-changing needs of women, Sir John has cultivated a strong focus on inclusivity, visual representation, durability and longevity in products. His passion for authenticity in beauty and fashion has led him to work as an ambassador and consulting celebrity makeup artist for L’Oréal Paris, as well as partnerships with numerous other brands including Glossier, MAC, Yves Saint Laurent, and Estée Lauder. His work has appeared on the covers of Glamour, Elle, Vanity Fair, Vogue, InStyle, Harper’s Bazaar, and Marie Claire .
This young artist has achieved global recognition from the masses and industry insiders alike. Sir John’s magnetic presence shines through all aspects of his professional journey, that’s why he’s celebrated by luminaries like Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Chrissy Tiegen, Margot Robie, Khloe Kardashian and Priyanka Chopra. His personal vibrancy has also come to television in his roles as Co-Executive Producer and celebrity mentor on Lifetime’s American Beauty Star . As his name portends, Sir John has become makeup nobility.
